I have decided lately that it negitivity breeds negitivity and therefore is the main cause of our country's problems. Okay the whole negitivity breeds negitivity is not a new concept, but it is one I have not thought about in a long time. It is funny how you can be having a good day or even a great day and it does not take much or long until there is negativity all around you trying to pull you along with it. I used to be a very positive person, (or at least I thought so), and now it seams I am more of a glass is half empty person. I do not like it,but it seams like the negativity just surrounds me like a cloak some days and it depresses me.
It does not even have to be much, a rude person you encounter can change your whole afternoon. This is why I think our country has some of the issues we have. I not talking about the war or global warming or things of that nature. I talking about how we as a people interact with each other, live our lives and our health.
We have become an country with high stress levels, over weight, depressed, and health problems that results from these same issues. What do you see advertised all the time by the drug companies, antidepressant medications, sleeping pills, high blood pressure medication, pills to help you lose weight.
With our progress we have also regressed socially. In the so called good ole days were people new their neighbors by name, waved to the stranger driving by, took our time getting places, opened doors for people, had a conversation that did not included texting at the same time.
My biggest pet peeves is rude, inconsiderate drivers and those that do not know or choose to not follow the rules of the road. I am however choosing to help reduce my negative imprint on the world. I will refrain from honking rudely, tailgating, giving rude jesters, yelling or screaming at individuals. Now I have never done all these things, however I have been on the receiving end which only makes me angry, upset, and negative. Which is why I will refrain from these actions because it does not change what happened, but I can try to not let my children see me acting like a jerk. Yes, even when that blind driver cuts me off, maybe they are having a bad day and why do I need to make it worse? Just maybe I will see a little less negative around me. Would it hurt to let someone merge over when they put their blinker on instead of blocking them? And who knows, you may even get a smile and a wave back. Now that is something to spread.
I have found that I get angry and /or annoyed mostly with people and what they do or don't do. I also maybe I just have some anger management issues, but maybe this will allow me to let off some steam instead of laying on my horn next time you cut me off. Then again I'll still honk but maybe I won't ride your ass because I got road rage! :-)

Back again and "Pay at the Pump?"
Image via Wikipedia
Hello, sorry it has been awhile since I last posted. A lot has been going on since my last post that has contributed to me taking a mini vacation from blogging. The positive is that it looks like I may be achieving one of the goals for writing this blog. The goal of being less cynical in my everyday life or maybe not as stressed out by having a place to vent. After my last post I noticed I was once again seeing the brighter side of things, so I may start another blog called "on the brighter side" or "on a lighter note" not sure at the moment.First I need to finishing venting.
My topic to vent on today? The so called "Pay At The Pump".
Now I think this is a great thing to drive up to a gas pump, swipe your card and fill your tank, then hit yes for receipt and have it print and be able to get back on your way. But that of course would be too easy.
Now sometimes it is this easy, but unfortunately it seems some gas station owners do not care about their customers, or maybe the store manager isn't making sure the job of getting paper and ink into the printers at the pump is being done, whatever the issue, store owners take note that even loyal patrons will choose to go somewhere else if it becomes a issue. It has come to the point that I will avoid a station even if it is more convenient if I know I will end up having to go inside the store after paying at the pump. If I am in a hurry and I do happen to stop at your store and I have to go inside you bet I am no longer a happy customer. If I have to get gas at your store I will put in only as much gas as I absolutely need and not fill up.
Okay, some are saying who cares if I get a receipt? I never keep them anyway. That is all well and good but a lot of times you need the receipt for work if getting mileage, or even taxes for varies reasons. In general it is the point. If you offer pay at the pump and you ask if you would like a receipt and you have printer failure or it says see clerk inside, you are no longer promoting convenience and fast service. In an economy where you can use loyal customers I may just go down the street to your competitor. In all just maintenance your pumps if you want happy and loyal customers.
